Dear Friends:

I invite you to join me in beautiful and fascinating Alexandria, Egypt for People to People International’s (PTPI) Middle East/Africa Regional Conference, October 19-23, 2010.  The central theme – It’s about the choices YOU make – offers the foundation for this very special event and underscores the vital role we each play in today’s world.

Together, we will learn about Global Sustainability, we will support our host community through a hands-on humanitarian project (always one of my favorite activities), we will network with longtime and new friends, and we will become better versions of ourselves as we embrace PTPI’s mission toward Peace through Understanding.

Your presence will help to ensure the success of this cultural, educational and humanitarian conference.  I am eager for the opportunity to personally thank you for the choices YOU make to positively impact our world.

Your partner in peace,

Mary Jean Eisenhower
President/Chief Executive Officer

Conference Highlights

Throughout this exciting conference you will have an opportunity to meet many People to People International (PTPI) members and supporters from throughout the region and the world. In addition, you will learn about Alexandria which brings Egyptian, Greek and Roman heritages together. Below are just a few examples of what you will experience during this annual regional conference:

  • Learn about Global Sustainability and what you can do to create a better, brighter, greener future! As one of the hottest climates on the planet, the region already suffers from strained resources of water and food. This has lead to the infamous Land Grab of some Arab countries in Africa, where fertile lands are much more plentiful and available at low cost. A World Bank study has predicted that the next World War will not be over territorial sovereignty or religion, but in fact over water. Hence, The Water Wars session during the conference will discuss the impacts that climate change will add to this already burdened region and the pressure it places on global resources. Learn how you can play a role in creating a more sustainable future for your community and the world.

  • Meet Mary Jean Eisenhower

You will meet PTPI’s President and CEO, Mary Jean Eisenhower, granddaughter of PTPI founder, U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower. PTPI chapters will present their chapter activities and achievements to her.

  • Reach New Heights – Personally & Professionally!

You will hear from inspiring keynote speakers who have overcome great obstacles in order to reach their objectives on personal, professional and communal levels. You have the opportunity to share your own experiences as well.

  • Hands-on-Humanitarian Project

You will make a difference by volunteering at a local charity organization to help those disadvantaged in Alexandria.  In addition, you will learn about humanitarian initiatives you can host in your own community when you return home.

  • Chapter Meetings & Presentations

Each year, PTPI chapter members from across the region present their year-long hard work through a PowerPoint presentation to others in the region, as well as to PTPI Board members who will attend the conference.  This is your chance to shine!

Please note that eligibility is based on participants’ application and interview with PTPI staff. For more information please read the conferenceTerms and Conditions
